Colloquia - Hilton and Pedersen

The fall colloquium series has begun with a Math and History Breakfast Lecture and Discussion with Dr. Peter Hilton, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Binghamton University, on October 4, 2004. In his talk, Dr. Hilton reminisced about his work and the people he got to know as he spoke on "Breaking German Codes in W.W. II with Alan Turing." His talk was aimed at a general audience and was attended by people across the university.

Later in the day, Dr. Jean Pederson, Distinguished Professor at Santa Clara University, who has written extensively in the area of polyhedral geometry, number theory and combinatorics, spoke on "How Polya Viewed His Own Enumeration Theorem." Her interesting talk was well attended and appreciated by the math students.
