New faculty member - Dr. Xiaoxu Han
He hopes to help recruit more students for the program, publish more high-quality
papers in this area, write grants, and build a cooperative research program
with the biology and computer science faculty on campus.
When asked what he likes best about EMU so far, Dr. Han said, “I like the diversity on our campus. The students are very friendly and work hard to learn.”
Dr. Han was born in Xi’an, China and came to the United States seven years ago for his graduate studies. He met his wife in China and they have been married for one year. Dr. Han likes to exercise, working out at the gym or running. He’s also a wonderful cook. He enjoys taking more traditional Chinese recipes and making them his own by adding his own style.
Welcome to Eastern Michigan University, Dr. Han.
Dr. Han joins us from the University of Iowa where he earned his masters in mathematics, masters in computer science, and doctorate in applied math and computational science. In addition, he remained at Iowa for his post-doctoral work in bioinformatics. His current research is in the area of biomathematics and bioinformatics. Dr. Han will be a key person helping with the new bioinformatics program at EMU.
