International Day
Eastern Michigan University celebrated International Week October 24-28, 2005 and the Department of Mathematics was anxious to join in the celebration. Drs. Calin and Britton planned an afternoon of mini-talks from the history of mathematics along with a wonderful dessert buffet. Faculty and students met in the math den for stories about the contributions from a wide variety of cultures in the development of mathematical ideas – from the development of the Hindu Arabic numeration system to an interesting look into the life of Paul Erdos. This is the second year that we’ve celebrated International Week with an afternoon of interesting stories, friendship, and food!
